This privacy notice for ChatGPT Ad Blocker ("we," "us," or "our") describes how our Chrome extension and related services ("Services") handle your privacy. The Extension is designed to operate entirely on your device — we do not run accounts, logins, or server-side user profiles.

Reading this privacy notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you still have any questions or concerns, please contact us at support@chatgptadblocker.com.

Summary of Key Points

  • No sensitive data is processed. The Extension never reads your ChatGPT conversations, keystrokes, or form inputs.
  • No third-party data is received. We do not receive information from advertisers, data brokers, or any outside source.
  • Do we receive any information from third parties? No. We do not receive information from third parties.
  • How do we process your information? We process minimal, non-personal information to provide and improve the ad-blocking service. All user-configurable data is stored locally on your device.

1. What Data Does the Extension Access?

In Short: The Extension operates entirely on your device. The Extension stores configuration data locally on your device.

The Extension uses Google Chrome's Storage API (chrome.storage.local) to store the following data locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to us unless explicitly described below:

  • Blocking rules (the active rule set used to identify and remove ad elements)
  • Custom rules you create through the options page
  • Your preferences (whether the blocker is enabled or disabled)
  • A count of elements blocked during your session
  • A timestamp of when blocking rules were last refreshed

2. How Do We Process Your Information?

In Short: We process information to provide, maintain, and improve the ad-blocking service.

We process information in the following ways:

  • Rule updates. The Extension periodically fetches updated blocking rules from our server. This request contains no user-identifiable information.

As with any internet request, standard headers (such as your IP address and user agent string) are included automatically by the browser. This is inherent to how the internet works and is not something we control.

3. When and With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information?

In Short: We do not sell, rent, or share personal identifiable information with third parties.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or disclose any user data to third parties. Since the Extension does not collect personal information, there is nothing to share.

4. Cookies, Tracking, and Third-Party Services

In Short: No. The Extension does not use cookies, web beacons, or pixel tags.

All data storage is handled through Chrome's local Storage API, which is sandboxed to the Extension and not accessible to websites or other extensions.

5. Extension Permissions

In Short: We request only the minimum permissions needed to block ads on ChatGPT.

  • Storage — save your settings, blocking rules, and custom rules locally on your device.
  • Alarms — schedule periodic background checks for updated blocking rules.
  • ActiveTab & Scripting — inject the content script that detects and removes ad elements on the page you are viewing.
  • Tabs — re-inject content scripts into already-open tabs after the Extension is installed or updated.

6. Data Retention

In Short: All Extension data lives on your device and is automatically deleted when you uninstall.

Since no data is stored on our servers, there is nothing for us to retain. Locally stored settings, rules, and preferences are removed by Chrome when the Extension is uninstalled.

7. Children's Privacy

In Short: The Extension is not directed at children under 18.

We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 18 years of age. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to such minor dependent's use of the Services. If you become aware of any concern, please contact us at support@chatgptadblocker.com.

8. Your Privacy Rights

In Short: You are in full control. Disable or uninstall the Extension at any time.

Since no personal data is stored on our servers, there is nothing for us to provide, modify, or delete on your behalf. You can remove all Extension data instantly by uninstalling it from your browser. If you have questions about your privacy rights, please contact us using the details below.

9. Do-Not-Track

The Extension does not track you, so Do-Not-Track browser signals do not change its behavior. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that applies to browser extensions, we will update this notice accordingly.

10. Updates to This Notice

In Short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.

We may update this privacy notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date and will be effective as soon as it is accessible. If we make material changes, we may notify you by prominently posting a notice or by pushing out a new version of the Extension.
